Obituary of James Barron

James Orval Barron, age 63, passed away after a gallant battle with cancer on May 21, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diana; son, Jason Barron & his wife Shawn Cassatt; daughter, Alicia Barron & her husband Phillip Hustad; brother, Jon Barron & his wife Jeanne; sister, Karen Rene & her husband Harold; sisters-in-law, Judy Barron and Barbara Barron; and step-mother, Ruth Barron. He is preceded in death by his father, A. Franklyn Barron; mother, June Middleton; and brothers, Arthur Barron and Allyn Barron.
Jim was born on November 28, 1944 in Drayton, North Dakota. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Accounting. In 1970, he began employment with White Drug where he worked for sixteen years. He then went on to work for Newman Signs until 1995, when he bought a business in Granite Falls, Minnesota, which he managed until he retired in 2006. Jim enjoyed retirement, whether he was traveling with his family or woodcarving. He found time to restore his grandfather’s 1954 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, which he was very proud of. Jim was very athletic and played on basketball and softball teams throughout the years. He also loved coaching his kids soccer teams while they were growing up.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 7:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, 281-485-4446. Also there will be a memorial service held in Fargo, N.D. at a later date.
