Obituary of Reba Nell Counts
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Reba Counts, affectionately known as "Nana," who left this world on November 13, 2024, at the age of 77. She was a shining light in our lives, known for her immense love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her deep affection for friends and family.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Counts; son, Mike Cole; granddaughter, Kassie Killam; mother, Juanita Schoubroek; father, Wilburn Case; and her brothers, Troy Case, Tommy Case, Robert Case, Dwayne Schoubroek, and Don Schoubroek.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughters, Sonja Flanigan and Brenda Holman (husband Robert Holman), Krissy Laskoskie; her sons, Richard Cole (wife Mariana Brazon), Shaune Flanigan, Thomas Flanigan, Lonnie Flanigan (wife Melissa Flanigan), and Donnie Flanigan (wife Ginessa Flanigan). She was the proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren and the doting great-grandmother to 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Reba had a passion for the simple pleasures in life, particularly her love of steak with a baked potato, a pot of beans, and her perennial requests for shoe string potatoes and peppermint patties during store visits. Her love for food was matched only by her green thumb; a cherished fig tree plant, inherited from her beloved granddaughter, thrived under her care and grew to over 7 feet tall—a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Family game nights were a treasured tradition, with laughter echoing through the house as she shared stories from her childhood and life journey—especially her thrilling and sometimes spooky tales. She ensured family gatherings were always filled with love and joy, sharing a special bond with her brothers and relishing their warm conversations.
A woman of unwavering faith, Reba found joy in music and took great delight in hearing about the achievements of her loved ones, especially in sports, always cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Reba had an extraordinary gift for lighting up the lives of those around her. Her optimism and kindness were a balm to many, as she selflessly gave of herself to others. She approached each day with a spirit of generosity, always bringing love and joy into our lives.
As we grieve her loss, we celebrate the beautiful memories we shared and the profound impact she had on our lives. We will hold our momma close to our hearts forever, and her spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love we give to one another—a lesson she taught us all.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Clayton Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas, where we invite all who knew and loved her to gather in honor of her remarkable life.
Rest in peace, dear Mommy. You will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
