Obituary of Ras B. Harper

Ras B. Harper, a resident of Country Place in Pearland, passed from this life Thursday, May 24, 2007 at his home at the age of 85 years. Ras was born April 19, 1922 in Avant, Arkansas to the late James and Amanda (Snow) Harper. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army having served in World War II and receiving two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star. Ras was a member of the Pearland Church of Christ.
Ras is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pauline Harper and Inez Johnson, and two brothers, Cecil and Eugene Harper. He is survived by a loving family his beloved wife, Charlyne (Crawford) Harper; his son, John Michael Harper and his wife, Theresa, of Pearland; brother, Nelson Harper and his wife, Jean, of California; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, in Pearland. Funeral services celebrating Ras’ life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, Memorial Day, May 28, 2007, in the Chapel of Clayton Funeral Home with D. C. Brown officiating. A private interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
