Obituary of Corazon P. Gesmundo
Corazon P. Gesmundo passed away in Missouri City, Texas, on Monday, December 16th, 2024, at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents, Deogracias and Narcissa Pujanes; brothers, Generoso Pujanes and Seyong Pujanes; and sister, Yolanda Belen; mother-in-law, Laura; and sister-in-law, Dorina. Left to cherish Corazon’s memory are her sons, Russell Gesmundo and Victorio Gesmundo Jr; daughter, Placida Sheila Celerio and husband Danilo; grandchildren, Sean and Danica; sisters-in-laws, Lorna, Medy, and Emma; and a host of many other family and friends.
Corazon was a compassionate, strong, and resilient mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She was a true caregiver, always ensuring her family and those around her had everything they needed. Corazon loved her family more than anything and did whatever she could to make sure they were happy. In her younger years, she was the one her family would call on when they needed something. Her granddaughter Danica remembers her always checking on her at night to make sure she was okay. Her grandson Sean remembers her calling him “my hero” when he would help her move around, asking how he is doing in school, and making sure he had money for college.
Corazon was a very patient teacher, teaching 2nd grade is no easy task, but she found the time to mentor newer teachers as well. She always gave her best effort. Many of her students still remember the impact she had on their lives and educations decades later. Corazon was lovingly known as the original “Plantita” for her amazing ability to make any plants grow; she had a very green thumb. She loved to travel, eat good food, and enjoyed collecting jewelry. In her opinion, she didn’t need new clothes or designer bags, if she could eat whatever she desired, and share it with her family. Corazon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Service for Corazon will be held on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. Corazon’s family will receive guests from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the service commencing at 2:00 pm.
