Obituary of Melba Catherine Josserand

Please share a memory of Melba to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Melba Catherine Josserand of Pearland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Newton Josserand; parents, Thomas Opal Holcombe and Fannie Etna Brown; son, Aurthur “Bert” Bertram Collier; brothers, Tommy and Charles Holcombe; and sister, Eloise Davis. Left to cherish Melba’s memory are her daughter, Brenda Miller Harris; grandchildren, Melissa, Bryan, Lindsay, and David; great grandchildren, Henry, Emma, Christopher, Mackenzie, and Isabel; and a host of other family and friends.

Melba centered her life around her family; always doing whatever it took to ensure they had everything they needed in life. Her family was always put first before herself, and she worked tirelessly her entire life to ensure they always felt special and loved. Melba had a smile that would light up the room and was always ready with a witty comeback or joke. Her strength and work ethic were undeniable, as she worked for many years at Charles Ford dress shop before managing a chain of liquor stores. In her later years, Melba would babysit children in the Pearland and Jacksonville, Texas areas.

Later in life, Melba enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grand babies, telling them stories they will always cherish. When time permitted, Melba would enjoy shopping, being pampered, and making her famous pinto beans and cornbread to share with her family.  Melba will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
