Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Winn Passmore, 76, of La Porte, passed away on Feb. 20, 2025, at his home.

Richard was the eighth child of Elma and William (Tony) Passmore. He was born on June 29, 1948, in Kilgore, Texas. A 1966 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, Richard served in the U.S. Army, where he was a radio communications traffic analyst in the Army Security Agency. He earned a National Defense Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal.

Richard had a successful career working for several information technology companies, including FXI and Idea Servcom, until he opened his own firm, Passmore Technologies, in 2011. He wholeheartedly enjoyed working with businesses in La Porte and the Houston area and treasured the many friendships he made with his clients.

Richard met his beloved wife, Susan, in 1990, and they married on Nov. 28, 1992, in La Porte. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of La Porte. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers—Bill Passmore, George Passmore, Bowden Passmore, John Passmore and Tony Passmore.

In addition to Susan, Richard is survived by his precious daughters and son-in-law, Shala Gallagher and Ashley and Adam Shibley, and the grandchildren he adored—Charles Gallagher, Adelyn Shibley and Ace Shibley. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Warnock and Ellen Carpenter; his brother, Robert Passmore; several sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard enjoyed all things technology as well as watching the Houston Astros, playing golf, boating, and playing cards with friends. He especially loved watching sports and talking about team statistics with Charles, attending Adelyn’s dance competitions and basketball games, and seeing Ace play the many sports that he loves.

Life will no doubt be a little less fun without Richard in our world. He was known for making friends wherever he went, and he could always be counted on to bring some laughs into any conversation. Richard offered sound advice on many topics, but family and friends especially turned to him for help with computers and software. The life of every party, he was loved not only by his family and his own friends, but also by the friends of his daughters, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at First United Methodist Church of La Porte, 9601 W. Fairmont Parkway, with visitation preceding the celebration beginning at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in Angel Hall at the church. The family requests that you wear bright colors to the service.
