Tina was born on May 28, 1926, in Hitchcock, TX, to devoted parents who contributed to the expansion of the railroad from Pearland to Galveston. As a young girl, she loved the simple country life, in her early teens her father would arrange for her take the train from Pearland to Galveston for work and she eventually moved with her older sisters to begin working in Galveston full-time at “La Paloma” Mexican restaurant where she developed her love of serving people delicious food. She met her husband Gilbert in Galveston, a year later, they married and returned to Pearland to start their family together. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A product of the greatest generation, she was independent and, with her husband’s support, became the owner of Jasso’s Café in Brookside in 1969, where she proudly served her loyal customers for 40 years. She was strong in her faith, resilient, rarely complained, although she was soft-spoken, she acted with quiet determination and resolve. She loved her family fiercely and supported them unconditionally. Tina enjoyed traveling to Colorado and the Hill Country, embroidering, and holiday crafts, and her most recent passion was coloring. Her family will forever be influenced by her love and her earthly presence will be missed.
The family wishes to thank the comforting and professional caregivers from Harbor Hospice; Debbie Morino, Narie Drayton, and volunteer, Sherry Waites.
