Obituary of Barbara Ann Sosa

Barbara Ann Sosa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Sosa Sr.; her parents, Pedro and Mary Blanco; her sons, Richard Michael Sosa and Robert Anthony Sosa; her brother, Peter Blanco; and her grandson, Nathaniel Sosa. 

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Robert Sosa Jr. and wife Diane, Christopher Paul Sosa and wife Cathy, Richard Anthony Sosa, Mary Beth Sosa and partner Jessica Rutledge, and Mona Chavarria and husband Sergio. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Lentini; grandchildren, Christian Kugler, Nickalis Sosa, Alexander Chavarria, Andrew Chavarria, Jacob Sosa, Ryan Sosa, Kristina Sosa, Hudson Sosa, and Harrison Sosa; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Sosa; mother-in-law Julia Chavarria and sister-in-law Nina Chavarria and host of cherished family members and dear friends.

Barbara was married to the love of her life, Robert, for 62 wonderful years. Both were born in Gary, Indiana, and their love story began when Robert returned home after serving in the United States Army. Together, they built a life and raised a family in Indiana for 46 years while Robert worked for U.S. Steel. Upon retirement in 1997, they relocated to Pearland, Texas, where they enjoyed their later years.

Affectionately known as "Grandma" by her grandchildren, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She found immense joy in caring for her family and was always thinking of others. Barbara’s love for cooking was a gift she passed down to her family, especially her treasured Greek recipes.

Her Catholic faith was central to her life, providing her with strength and guidance. She loved sharing her faith with her family and remained steadfast in her beliefs throughout her life. Some of her favorite pastimes included playing Bingo, reading, and cooking, all of which she enjoyed most when surrounded by loved ones. Barbara’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service in celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Clayton Funeral Home in Pearland on Monday, March 17, 2025. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.

Barbara’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude Julia and Nina Chavarria for helping to care for Barbara in her later days; and to the incredible staff at Apex Oaks at Clear Lake, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the exceptional, compassionate care you provide.

Barbara’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
