Obituary of Clara Sutton

Clara Sutton, age 87, of Pearland, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 22^nd, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on July 18^th, 1937, in Rosenberg, Tx Clara was the beloved daughter of Marcus and Adela Pena Gonzales. She grew up with strong roots, deep faith, and a heart full of kindness that she shared with everyone she met.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth Villanueva, Maragaret (Maggie) Gonzales Coffee, and Brother, Marcus Gonzales.

Throughout her life Clara was known for her passion for Radiology, which she devoted over 25 years to at Herman Hospital. Clara was known for her warm smile, unweaning strength and commitment to her family. She lived with grace, compassion and enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.

Following retirement Clara devoted several years in Zachary, La and The Villages, Fl volunteering in local Catholic Churches mentoring young women in support of unwed mothers.

Clara is survived by her husband of 39 years, Woodrow (Woody) Sutton, her sons John Ruiz, Mike Ruiz and wife Alison, Grandchildren Brittany Garcia and husband Eddie, Brooke Brock and husband Chad, Great Grandchildren Cashlynn, Brylee, Eli, Brayden, Emmett, Ethyn and Great-Great Granddaughter Braxtynn Blair (arriving in June). Siblings Joe Gonzales and wife Sharron, Alice Sadlin and husband Jim, Patsy Maginel and husband Col. Robert and Beatrice McClung and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on April 28^th, 2025, at Clayton Funeral home of Pearland. (5530 Broadway St., Pearland, Tx 77581) A celebration of Clara will be held at 10:30am on the following day, Tuesday April 29^th, 2025, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. Clara’s family invites you to join them at a reception following the burial at Iguanas Ranas Pearland (2536 S Grand Blvd., Pearland, Tx 77581).
