Obituary of Sharron Ann Manning

Please share a memory of Sharron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sharron Ann Manning, lovingly known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in League City, Texas, at the age of 81.

Born on November 12, 1943, in Houston, Texas to Alfred Herman Blume and Koreene Kennerly Blume, Sharron lived a good life rooted in education, family, and faith. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and dedicated over 40 years to teaching English, most of them proudly spent at La Porte High School in La Porte TX. A passionate educator and lifelong learner, she left a lasting impact on generations of students over the years and was known affectionately as the Goddess of Grammar.

Sharron found peace and joy in quiet weekends at the family farm in East Texas, where she loved to relax and unwind. Her warmth, wit, and deep sense of care touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, William Thomas Manning Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Nicole Sica Manning; her beloved grandchildren, William Thomas Manning III (11) and Samantha Ann Manning (19); and her brother, David Bower and his Wife Adele and their children Keith and Karen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Thomas Manning Sr., who passed away in 2006.

A devoted member of the Baptist faith, Sharron’s life will be honored at Clayton Funeral Home in La Porte, Texas, on Monday, June 23, 2025. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America at www.DementiaSociety.org/donate in her memory.
