Obituary of Arturo Delfin Degala

Arturo Delfin Degala, 86, passed away on June 9, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Quirino and Paula Degala; brother, Bower Degala; sisters, Olga Degala Desales, Chita Degala, Oliva Degala Caragan, Blanquita Degala Faconsis; and daughter, Cecilia Degala Arandia. Arturo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Loreto Degala; sons, Arturo Degala Jr., and Agustin Degala; daughters, Mary Lou Degala and Teresita Degala; brothers, John Degala and Harrel Degala; sister, Anita Degala Solas; grandchildren, Pul Vincent Yao, Cyd Charisse Arandia Garcia, Albert Clyde Arandia, Jose Benjie Arandia, Andre Marie Arandia, Leslie Ann Degala Babiano, Dave Degala, John Ranier Degala, Giselle Ann Degala, Adnan Miguel Degala, Ralph Xavier Degala, Irene Lorraine Degala, John Michael Degala; great grandchildren, KC, Curby, Arnie Claire, Mary Claire, Cyd Lori and Vincent Adrian; and a host of many other family and friends. Arturo was affectionately known to his family as Lolo. He loved to travel back to the Philippines to visit family. He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed sharing stories with friends and family about growing up in the Philippines. Arturo always enjoyed good health by staying fit walking or doing pushups. Every morning he was up early eating his oatmeal for breakfast. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family. Arturo was a hard worker, good provider and excellent example for his family. Arturo was an avid reader and loved to study history; especially any books about his favorite person, General Douglas MacArthur. He enjoyed nice clothes and was always nicely dressed with his favorite hat. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Arturo will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited by Deacon Dale Almenario at 7:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church at 2209 Old Alvin Rd, Pearland, TX 77581 with Father Jim Courville officiating.
