San Juanita “Janie” Hidalgo, 45, passed away on June 16, 2011. Janie is survived by her parents, Ruben and Adela Peña; son, Sal Gomez; daughters, Rebecca Tate and her husband, David, and Betty Riojas; brothers, David Martinez, Ruben Peña Jr., and Alejandro Peña; sisters, Irene Cordero and Oralia Hernandez and her husband, Elias; and a host of many other family and friends. Janie enjoyed playing competitive pool and looked forward to competing in tournaments. She taught herself a lot about the computer, software programs and was well versed with technology, where she loved having the latest and greatest gadgets that came out. Janie was a great example to her children by living a positive life and having a sincere concern for others. She was always young at heart and loved laughing and spending time with friends and family. Janie’s concern for others could be seen through her many acts of kindness; whether she was putting together care packages for our soldiers or donating blood at the blood center on a regular basis. She truly had a servant’s heart and was never concerned with who knew of her many acts of kindness. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Visitation for Janie will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Associate Pastor Lawrence Tate officiating. Interment will take place at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
