Jimmy Cantu passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005 in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 73 years. A resident of Pearland, Jimmy was born November 28, 1931 in Rosenberg, Texas to Fred and Juanita Pena Cantu. Jimmy proudly served his country as Corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War and was the recipient of three Korean Service Medals. He retired from the Houston Independent School District as a supervisor and is survived by a loving family; his wife, Josephine Cantu; two daughters, Susan Hall and her husband, Larry, of Pearland and Jackie Miller and her husband, Jeff, of Oneonta, Alabama; two sons, Jimmy Cantu and his wife, Antonia, of Houston and Robert Cantu and his wife, Teresa, of Pearland; two brothers, Arthur Cantu and Benito Cantu, both of Rosenberg; a sister, Annie Cantu, of Houston; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. The family received friends Tuesday, October 11, 2005, from 6 – 8 PM, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland, where a prayer service was held at 7 PM. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 10:30 AM, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. Graveside services and military honors followed at SouthPark Cemetery, under the auspices of American Legion Post# 521. Those serving as pallbearers were; Eric Hall, Jimmy Cantu, III, Daren Cantu, Robert Cantu, II, Arthur Cantu, II, Joe Cantu, Anthony Cantu and Rudy Cantu.
