Obituary of James Edward Wilks

James Edward Wilks, 73, passed away on October 29, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. Wilks and Winifred Maxine Wilks; and brother, Richard Wilks. James is survived by his sister, Sandra Honea and her husband, Boyce; nephew, Barron Honea and his wife Darla; niece, Paula Honea and her husband, Mark; great-nephews, Bryce, Trevor and Peyton Smith; great-niece, Whitney Smith; and a host of many other family and friends. James was born on December 12, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1947 where he attended Southmayd Elementary, Deady Junior High and graduated from the Milby High School Class of 1956. James was a member of the ROTC program at Milby. Jimmy, as he was known at the popular Teen Canteen at Mason Park, was an excellent dancer and would have the girls lined up to dance with him. James lifetime hobby was bowling and he was an excellent bowler. At the time of his death, he was a manager for Hamilton Ace Hardware in Houston. James will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Visitation for James will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The graveside service will held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
