Obituary of Gary Edwardlee Stracener

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary Edwardlee Stracener, 61, affectionately known as “Gary Bob” went to be with his heavenly father Monday, February 13, 2012 after a year long battle with Stage IV lung cancer. Gary is survived by wife Pamela Kennard Stracener and her son Christopher Kennard of Pearland as well as his parents John and Wilma Stracener of Ward, Arkansas. Gary is also survived by his siblings, Ron, Gail, Vanessa, Kim, Tracy, children, nieces and nephews in Arkansas and Texas. Gary loved to take his camper and boat to San Luis Pass to spend the weekend fishing and enjoying a cold beverage or two while visiting with his new found friends. Gary Bob loved sitting in his garage watching TV while he kept an eye on the street. He knew who and what time it was by the sound of their cars coming down the street. Gary was fond of his neighbors and enjoyed talking to them daily. A special Thank You to two of the kindest and dearest people that the Lord placed on this Earth: Mark Wayne Ramsden and Jobie Halik Flowers. Mark Wayne aka “Medicine Man” was in charge of Gary’s medications and Jobie with her organizational wizardry took charge of everything else. These angels were at Gary’s side daily and took care of him during his last days. The two were always a ray of sunshine that brightened Gary’s day and put a spark in his eye and a smile on his face. Another special Thank You to his “Gamma Girls” and the radiation crew in the basement of MD Anderson Hospital waiting area C, Dr. Steven Lin and Menchu, Dr. Paul Brown and finally Dr. Frank Fossella, Medical Director of Thoracic Oncology. A Memorial Service for Gary will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581 with Chaplain Dan Danford officiating.
