Rosa Flores Garcia, age 58 of Houston, passed away on September 13, 2008. She is preceded in death by her father, Anastacio Flores, and her mother, Isabel Rodriguez. She is survived by her loving husband of eighteen years, Jesse Garcia; daughters, Christine Garcia and Victoria Gonzalez & her husband, Daniel; brothers, Al Flores & his wife, Frances and Ernesto Flores & his wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Anastacia, Daniel IV, Delilah, and Mathew Gonzalez; and a host of other family and friends. Rosa was born on October 23, 1949. She resided in the Houston area for over thirty years. Rosa was a professional seamstress and was best known for designing fabulous wedding gowns. She was the first custom bridal shop to be featured at the Bridal Extravaganza. Her fashion stamp was left on hundreds of quinceañera’s, weddings, proms, formals, and pageants. Rosa became the matriarch of her family after her parents passed away and always made sure there were plenty of get-togethers during special times and holidays. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Grandma”. Rosa’s ability to turn any problem into a positive one was a quality that was admired by all who knew her. She was always strong-willed, a fighter and of strong faith. Rosa was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and an active member of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Visitation for Rosa will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Clayton Funeral Home with the Rosary beginning at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 10 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 4025 Grapevine Street, Houston, TX 77075, 713-433-9836.
