After teaching in several school districts, Cynthia spent almost 25 years teaching in Pearland ISD. She then became a high school counselor at Alvin ISD until her retirement in 2005. Cynthia overcame many challenges in her life having been crippled from Polio as a young child. She spent a year away from her family at the Elks Crippled Children’s Warm Springs Foundation in Gonzales, Texas, when she was 3 years old. But nothing could take the joy away from Cynthia. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearland, where she had taught Sunday School and participated in pageants. She loved to travel with her family and special friends Barbara Ellis, Denise Petri and Susie Wilcox.
