Monroe S. Woodum passed away on September 14, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lucy Woodum; son, Harry Woodum & his wife Laurie of Nevada City, California; daughter, Yvonne Edwards & her husband, Darrell and wonderful grandson, Ryan Edwards of Pearland, Texas; brothers, Charles Woodum & his wife, Elna of Charlotte, North Carolina, Albert Woodum of Conroe, Texas, Paul Woodum & his wife, Linda of Sperry, Oklahoma; sister, Joyce Fisseler & her husband Les of Waco, Texas; and sister-in-law Ora Ramirez of San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Naomi (McFarland) Woodum; brother, R.J. Woodum; and sisters, Ann Roughton and Kathryn Wade.
Monroe was born on April 19, 1930, in Milano, Texas. He spent 47 years in the Houston area. He was a wonderful provider for his family, a loving husband and father, and a devoted grandfather. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Monroe also enjoyed serving his church as an usher for many years.
Monroe’s Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 10:00 am at the Church of the Epiphany, 9600 S. Gessner Drive , Houston, TX 77071, 713-774-9619 with Pastor Jim Tucker officiating. Interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Epiphany Endowment Fund, or Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe, Houston, TX 77030.
