Obituary of James Thomas Brashier

James Thomas “Tom” Brashier, a resident of Pearland, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Tom was born July 3, 1928 in Quitman, Mississippi to the late Ben Alex and Ava Josephine (Daniel) Brashier.
Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a heavy equipment operator by trade and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a Shriner. Tom was an avid reader of history and enjoyed traveling. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching football and baseball. Known by some as “Popeye”, Tom will be fondly remembered as a kind and patient man who always wore a smile.
Tom was a wonderful family man. He is preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Brashier and leaves a loving family; his beloved wife Betty; his son, Randy and his wife, Judy, of Pearland; three brothers, Ben Brashier and his wife, Marge, of Cleveland, Bill Brashier and his wife, Johnnie, of Pearland and Joe Brashier and his wife, Vivian, of Katy; two grandchildren, Stacie Utsey and her husband, Kevin and Jill Frost and her husband, Luke; his great grandson, James Aiden Utsey; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2007, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, in Pearland. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 13, 2007, in the Chapel of Clayton Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Utsey of Sagemont Church officiating. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park, in Pasadena. Those serving as pallbearers are; Kevin Brashier, Wayne Brashier, Tommy Miller, Kevin Utsey, Luke Frost and Gene Crye, Jr.
