Phan Van Pham, 84, passed away on October 18, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Phat and Ngu Pham; sons, Pham Công Minh, and Pham Công Khanh; two brothers and two sisters. Phan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Thanh Pham; sons, Pham Minh Châu, Pham Công Bá, Pham Công Anh, and Pham Anh Tuân; daughters, Pham Thanh Mai, Pham Thanh Thuy, and Pham Thanh Huöng; two sisters, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Phan came to Houston from Vietnam in 1994 after his oldest son, Minh moved here for work. He was especially fond of family gatherings and took the opportunity to write poems for anyone’s special day. Phan was always thinking of others and loved his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Óng” to all of his grandchildren and was always proud of all their accomplishments. Phan was very grateful for all the opportunities that the move to the United States allowed his family. He served in the Vietnam army during the Vietnam War and assisted the United States military. After the war was over and the United States left, Phan was placed in prison for seven years for his assistance to the U.S. Once he was finally released from prison, the U.S. government helped his family come to America to start a new life and have opportunities in Houston. Phan will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Visitations for Phan will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm and on Monday evening, October 22, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W.
