Please share a memory of Ana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ana Iris Cortez, age 13, passed away suddenly on October 30, 2008. She is survived by her loving parents, Proceso Cortez & Lucia Hidalgo Cortez; brother, Pedro “Bryan” Cortez; sisters, Neidy Salas & her husband Roberto, Belinda Cortez, Julia Cortez, & Samantha Cortez; grandmothers, Julia Hidalgo & Carlota Cortez; a host of aunts, uncles, and other family and friends. Ana was born on February 1, 1995 in Houston, Texas and spent her entire life here. She was a very social teen, enjoyed playing soccer, reading, dancing, walking, watching wrestling on tv, or listening to music. She loved singing with her sisters and cousins at any family gathering and had the ability to brighten up any room and make everyone’s moods lighter. Cooking for her brothers and sisters was also fun for her, especially making pancakes. She loved her sister, Belinda’s, Tia Nifas Rice. Ana was proud to be “Student of the Month” at her school, Revere Middle School in Houston, this October and was commended for her performance on the TASK Tests. She was bilingual and was always helping family and friends who were learning the languages. She loved texting and being on the phone with Jesse, getting spoiled and going out to eat. Juli was her right hand man and there were always laughs with her sisters. When Neidy was pregnant, Ana knew she was having a little girl. She referred to this as her “Mother’s Instinct” and named the child, Amanda. Ana was an adoring and special daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her wonderful memories will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. Visitation for Ana will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The Liturgy of the Word is on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 1:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel. Deacon Cruz Trujillo will be officiating. Interment is at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
