Obituary of Henry Stanaland

Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry Stanaland left to be with Jesus on November 3, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cynthia; daughters, Theresa Lotz & her husband, Stephen, and Yvonne Stanaland; sister, Margaret Blackmon; and one grandson, Gibson Lotz; and a host of other family and friends. Henry was born on December 8, 1948 in Galveston, Texas. He married Cynthia in 1967. They frequently moved around the country because of his service with the military but resided in St. John, Arizona for a long time before settling in Pearland for the last twenty years. Henry proudly served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic in the front lines during Vietnam. Family was extremely important to him. He was very proud of his daughters, grandson, nieces, and nephews. He treated his niece, Jennifer’s son, Liam, like a grandson, since they lived so close by. He enjoyed being surrounded by loved ones and would often barbeque for everyone at parties and gatherings . Henry worked tirelessly in construction for many years before deciding to become a proprietor and run his own business. He managed Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., and was often recognized around town in his red pick up truck. Henry was very active in the community and was a member of many clubs and organizations. Among them were the Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters, BNI, and Men Who Cook. He was recently baptized in the Crosspoint Fellowship Church and became involved in many programs there even doing a baptism himself. Henry was truly touched by the Lord in his Church group, Coals for Souls, where he was able to extend his ministering spirit by feeding those in need. Henry and Cynthia were planning to leave Pearland soon to be close to Henry’s Uncle Rease Nash in East Texas. He felt sad for this but was compelled to be closer to his uncle since they were more like brothers all their lives and simply wanted to be there for him. Henry’s good cheer and loveable nature left an indelible mark on anyone he met throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but always remembered with fondness. Visitation for Henry will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 9:00 am in the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel immediately followed by a Celebration of Henry’s Life at 10:00 am. Pastor Tom Allen of Crosspoint Fellowship is officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in Henry’s honor.
