Born in Dallas, TX on Feb. 19, 1936, Nancy was the daughter of Hunter and Blanche Smith. She was a graduate of Oak Cliff H.S. (Dallas) in 1954. She married the late Marvin Britain of Irving, TX and moved to Lafayette, LA where she lived for many years. She later moved to Houston, TX, and Albuquerque, NM, before finally settling in Manvel in 2002. She is survived by her four children, Eileen Hanson of Lafayette, Scott Britain and his wife, Sherry, of Corpus Christi, TX, Brian Britain and his wife, Kimberly, of Ellijay, GA, and Lynne Roberts and her husband, Marty, of Rosharon, TX. She was a special “Grammi” to her eight grandchildren, SPL Gordon Hanson, Katie Hanson, William “Trey” Hanson, III, Tiffany Britain, Lawrence “L.A.” Claypool, Brandy Burns, David Britain, and Hayden Roberts. Nancy is also survived by her two brothers, Gordon Smith of Millican, TX, and Gary Smith of Lafayette; and her mother-in-law, Juanita Britain, of Irving, TX. Nancy was an employee of Teas Nursery in Houston, and also managed her own pet-sitting business. She was a member of the Creative Life Spiritual Center in Spring, TX. She enjoyed gardening and fishing, and loved her pets, but her life-long passion was music. Her radiant and vivacious spirit was expressed through the writing and playing of her music. Her beautiful voice brought joy to others. She was privileged to have had the honor to sing this past summer at the Vatican as a member of the Houston Choral Society. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. The family will receive friends at Clayton Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2005, and before the Ceremony from 12 Noon – 2 PM.
