Chona grew up in the Philippines from modest and humble beginnings and it was from this that she grew to appreciate and be grateful for everything in her life. She worked as a nurse at M.D. Anderson since 2006 and looked forward to helping and assisting the patients she looked after. Chona loved being a mother and taking care of her family. She was very brave throughout her illness and even shared with her family many times how she would want them to continue on and be happy with the memories they have of her. Chona’s co-workers and friends were all amazed at her positive outlook and attitude as she was battling cancer and how she managed to always look at the bright side of every situation. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. Chona always enjoyed traveling back home to the Philippines to visit family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
