I had the privilege of working with Jan at Young Elementary for several years. She had a real zest for life, a wonderful sense of humor and was a joy to be around. Her care and concern for the students entrusted to her was first rate. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.

I am a former teacher and principal. I live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and for the last 18 years I have enjoyed spending the Christmas holidays with Liz Bradley in Pearland. I have delighted in going on many shopping excursions with Jan and Liz. Just last year Jan drove us to the Texas City Outlets. We shopped and ate (of course) for hours. I will always remember her outbursts of laughter on our way home that day. On each excursion, I enjoyed her thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and her views on current education issues. I will always delight in knowing this phenomenal individual and remembering the good times we had. My thoughts and prayers have been with her this year. My deepest sympathy is extended to everyone in Jan’s family and to her friends.

I worked with Jan At Pasadena I. S. D. as counselor. She was a good friend and counselor. We were at Golfcrest Country Club during an event with many people. I hear her distinctive laugh in the room and said “I know that laugh, where is Jan?” I pray for comfort for the family. Jan closed her eyes on earth and woke up in the arms of Jesus.

Jan was one in a million and her zest for life was contagious. She would do anything for anybody, and was like a sister to me. We vacationed together, had hot summer garage sales together, did booths at craft shows, she sewed curtains for me, was at almost every birthday party we ever had for Ryan, drove me to Southmore when we both taught there (in her Thunderbird), taught at Beverly Hills together, went to movies where she would crack me up, rode the California coastline, saw OJ Simpson’s house, and many, many other escapades! We had fun together, and she was so creative and talented. I always said, she could just throw something up on a wall sideways and it would look terrific. She had a knack for decorating…She was selfless, determined, and courageous. I will miss her and the love and compassion that we shared. One day not too long ago, I took an old vacation photo album over and Jan and I smiled and reminisced old times. I love you dear friend. You were one precious lady. We all have an empty place in our hearts which was filled by sweet, darling YOU. Bruce, please let us know if there is anything at all that you need in the upcoming weeks. She loved you a lot and I know your hurt is immense. Rest in the arms of Jesus, sweet Jan. Hurt no more and know that you are loved and missed more than words can say…..Psalm 91:4, 11

Jan was a very special person. She went through a lot in her life time and just kept reinventing herself. I met Jan through church and later in life worked with her at Young Elementary. She loved everyone and had the ability to make each person feel so special. Jan you are missed! I can see her directing a choir or getting up a golf tournament. To her family we are praying for you!!!

It was impossible to be around Jan for even a few minutes and not smile or laugh. She was such a fun loving person with so much talent in so many areas. Our daughters shared a hugh amount of time and made many memories together. Jan will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Scott and Jennifer, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Jennifer, I briefly met you once at school and Jan mentioned you often. I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was an exceptional woman.

I met Jan through sorority and later discovered that I had lived just doors from her on Sagegreen Court. At the time I was married to Eric Hausler, so her children may remember the Hausler family. During our time in sorority together, we lived a block from each other, so we road together to most of the functions. She was very instrumental in mentoring me through my various offices in sorority and I would have never made it without her. I feel very blessed to have had her in my life. My deepest sympathies to her family! She will be sorely missed.
