Obituary of Joy Evelyn Jenkins

Joy Evelyn Jenkins, 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Iva Ridgeway; her loving husband, of 48 years, Herman Jenkins; son, David Jenkins; two brothers and two sisters. Joy is survived by her sons, Mark Jenkins, Brad Jenkins and wife, Terri; daughter, Ann Sample and husband, Lloyd; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Joy was employed with Nabisco for over 38 years as a bakery line worker. She was an avid baseball fan and especially enjoyed rooting for her Houston Astros. Joy always enjoyed “Lady Luck” and her many trips to Las Vegas. She had a sharp mind and looked forward to reading the paper every day from front to back to keep up with all the current events, politics and especially crossword puzzles. Joy was affectionately known as “Grandma” to all of the grandchildren and cherished spending time with all of them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A visitation for Joy will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bob Joiner officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
