Please share a memory of Annamma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Annamma Varghese (Alumoottil Ammachi) was born on February 16, 1926 as the eldest daughter of the late Mani and Mariamma Thomas. In 1943, she was married to Mr. A.M. Varghese. At the age of 27, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and took water baptism that same year, in 1953. Annamma was an exemplary wife, mother and sister. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and desired to honor Him in all areas of her life. She used her abilities as an encourager and organizer to spearhead weekly tract distribution, home visits, and preaching in open-air meetings in Kottayam and the surrounding areas. “Ammachi”, as she was affectionately known, was a very kind, gentle and loving person who dedicated her life to serving others, and ultimately Jesus Christ. In 2000, Annamma Varghese migrated to USA and resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her son, Finny Alummottil, and family. In 2005, she moved to Houston, Texas with her son, where she became an active member of IPC Hebron Houston. One of her greatest joys and blessings was to have so many of her family involved in the ministry. Specifically, her son, Rev. Finny Alummootil, son-in-law Rev. Rajan K. Mathew, and grandchildren Rev. Robby Mathew and Rev. Johnly Johnson who all serve as ordained ministers. Annamma was a prayer warrior who spent many hours daily interceding for family, believers, pastors, churches and those in need. On Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Annamma Varghese went to be in the presence of her Savior whom she loved. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Finny Alumottil (Kochumol); daughters, A.V. Sosamma (Pappachan), Mariamma Rajan (Rajan), Omana Eapen (Eapen); grandchildren, Wesley, Lidiya, Sheeba, Shibu, Robby, Reji, Jinsy, Blessy, Johnly, Feba, Febin; and sixteen great grandchildren, especially her Eva mol whom she spent her last days playing with and taking care of. Annamma was predeceased by her husband, Mr. A.M Varghese, who entered into glory in 2010. As a family, the Lord has blessed us over the years through our dear Ammachi. While she will be greatly missed, we will always reflect with Joy on the life she lived and seek to follow in her footsteps-serving the Lord until He calls us home or He returns.
