Charles Ammons Jr., age 44, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008. He is preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Ammons; grandparents, Johnny & Vera Colvin, Will Earl & Leona Williams; uncle, Johnny Calvin Jr., aunt, Brenda J. Rowe, and niece, Kaneisha Kannady. He is survived by his father, Charles Ammons & stepmother, Aretha Ammons; sister, Karen Denise Ammons of Houston; brothers, Sammie LaShay Ammons and Courtney Miles, and Melvin Wright & his wife Arleda, all of Houston; nieces, Tranikka Kannady and Taylor Miles, of Houston; nephews, Eric Miles, James Miles, and Joshua Miles, of Houston; aunts, Willa Stewart of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carolyn K. Alexander of Atlanta, Georgia, and JoAnn Matthews & her husband Willis of Houston, Texas; and a host of other family and friends.
Charles was born on February 25, 1964 in Houston, Texas, to Charles and JoAnn Ammons. He graduated from Jack Yates Senior High School. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Baptist Church. He later became a member of St. Agnes Baptist Church. Charles enjoyed listening to music, watching wrestling, and being a Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved his nieces and nephews and being surrounded by family at reunions. Charles had been on dialysis for more than twenty years and fought a courageous battle with diabetes. Charles had a strong faith and loved the Lord. He will be missed greatly but sleep peacefully with our Lord.
Visitation for Charles will be on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at St. Agnes Baptist Church, 3730 S. Acres Drive, Houston, Texas 77047, 713-733-0146. Apostle Gene A. Moore Sr. will be officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
