Obituary of Harold Drennan

Harold Dwain Drennan, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2009 after a nine year battle with leukemia. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Drennan; paternal grandparents, Charles & Laura Drennan; maternal grandparents, John & Minnie Guthrie; and best friend, Keith Eubank. He is survived by his mother, Clydie B. Guthrie Drennan; wife, Melba (Benson) Drennan; sons, Russell & his wife Jill, Kyle & his wife Greta, and Bryan & his wife Stephanie; brother, Eugene Drennan & his wife Ginny Winn; sister, Marita Hendrick & her husband Nard; grandchildren, Lindsey & Blake Stratton; Brittany, Will & Daniel Drennan; and a host of many other family and friends. Harold was born on August 6, 1935 and raised in Sidney, Commanche County, Texas. After graduation from high school, he moved to Odessa where, in 1956, he married his wife of 53 years, Melba Benson Drennan. He moved to Pearland in 1971 to rear his children in a small town. Harold was a wonderful person and a big tease. He enjoyed attending the school functions of his five grandchildren. Harold learned to play golf and most vacations included at least one round. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pearland. A special thanks to Dr. Mahandra Jain and his nurse, Monica for guiding his care over the past years. To his wonderful doctor and friend, Dr. Kelty Baker and her staff, Lisa, Janet, Denise, and Kellie for their loving care of Harold for nine years. Also, thanks to the wonderful staff at Cell & Gene and the 8th floor staff at Methodist Hospital. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, 281-485-4446. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 7, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Clayton Chapel. Dr. Bob Joiner will be officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
