Foley was one of the best people I knew back in 1952 AT Stephen F. Austin High
School. I used to tease him and call him "Folly" but he always laughed at it. He
was VERY smart, but never acted like he was better than others. I usually sat
behind him (my maiden name was Phenix, so that put me alphabetically in front of or behind him). He was gracious and kind. I'm sorry he's gone - one less good guy on
the planet.

Dad, I miss you so much every day. I listen to sports talk radio in the car because you used to do it and that that’s how I feel close to you. Fido is there now with you. I’ll bet you guys are deer hunting together. I’m glad you were not here to see what Fido went through the last two years from cancer. Now, he is safe in heaven with you. Love you guys.

Foley was a man that taught all of us profound lessons about life without saying a word. His character was above reproach, his promises absolute, and his dedication to his family and friends was unquestionable. He gave everything in life his absolute best, and flattered those of us trying to keep up! I am honored to call him my Father-In-Law, and truly grateful for his influence in my life and the lives of my children. He was an incredible Grandfather and an unforgettable man. I love you Foley Sam!!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with this family during this time of grief. I did not know this gentleman but I know Marianne’s husband, Kenneth Friedell, (my cousin) had nothing but nice things to say about him. Kenny thought the world of him and will miss him dearly.

Dear Pat and Family
My greatest sympathy for your loss of an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and my dear cousin Foley Sam. I loved how he used to tease me, always had a wry comment and laugh about life. I was in wonderment as a child, 9 years younger, when he was a student at Rice University, looked up to him always for his brilliance and his humanity. I can see him laughing, always finding the funny side and being deeply caring. We had such good times at Grandma’s and at Aunt Jenny’s, and I remember the deep grief for the loss of his brother Joe, while still a student at Rice.
We have lost a great man who loved his family so much, made life seem simple and doable. I will always have a special place in my heart for my cousin Foley Sam, a remarkable, unique and kind man. I know you are still with us.
Love, Phyllis (SantaMaria, based in London, England)
PS: I am so pleased we got together for our family reunion, 100 strong, 29 June 2013 in Houston and had such a wonderful day together. That means a lot.

Foley was a brilliant and exceptional leader who cared for all of the employees at Texas City. I recall his meetings where hourly employees were asked to present any concerns or comments. He would then task one of the salary employees to research the concern and bring a solution to the next meeting. I learned from him to listen, have empathy and most of all, respect people no matter what level in the organization they occupied. It was an honor to work with him. Your father and husband was a true leader loved by many. Bob Narvaez

Pat & Family,
I had the privilege of being Foley’s secretary for a lot years during his positions at UCC, the last time being when he was Plant Manager. He was a brilliant man and a great boss. He had a genuine concern for all the employees and knew most of them by name. He was well respected and a friend to many of us. He was so proud of all of you and it was a pleasure getting to meet some of you during your phone calls to his office, especially you dear Pat. I always enjoyed talking with you. Jim and I shared Foley’s love of the Hill Country. I am sorry we won’t be able to attend the service but Jim has been very ill this past year so we don’t do much driving. You will be in our prayers and thoughts as you remember this special man. God Bless, Karen & Jim Lee, Canyon Lake, TX

Pops, now maybe you can finally know whether or not they actually have pork chops! You always told the very best stories, made even better since I usually knew the people involved and that the story was at least mostly true! My life has been greatly enriched from the pleasure of being one of your many ‘other’ kids. Rest in peace – your memory will bring many smiles!
