Horace Edward Cloninger, age 63 of Alvin, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce E. & Lorene (Overton McCulley) Cloninger. He is survived by his daughters, Shelley Wade & her husband Shea and Robin Goodrum; sisters, Andrea Hawkins & her husband Rick, Kim Miller & her husband Gary, and Becky Swaggerty; grandchildren, Marah Barthelmess, Lauren Wade, Caleb Maddox, & Cayden Goodrum; and a host of many other family & friends. Ed was born on May 7, 1946 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He worked for Horiba ABX for twenty seven years as a Field Engineer. Ed loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who affectionately referred to him as “Pa Paw”. He would often dabble on his computer making videos of them. Ed was a man of strong faith and was a member of Heights Baptist Church. While enjoying good health, he would travel back to Tennessee for family reunions. He was also an avid Tennessee Volunteer Football fan. Ed was known for his great sense of humor and enjoyed hearing or telling a good joke. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Visitation for Horace will be on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Thorngrove Cemetery, Thorngrove, Tennessee on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 am. Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel, 5301 Fountain Rd., Knoxville, TN 37918, 865-689-4481 in Knoxville is handling the services.
