Obituary of Emma Dorene Sullivan

Please share a memory of Emma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Emma Dorene Sullivan completed her life on July 29th, 2014, after a year-long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Her husband Jerrel and their three children, Terrie, Steven and Michael were at her home bedside, when she passed from this world to another. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on the 26th of June, 1939, to the parents of John Wiley and Emma Dora Donham. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen High School. She met her future and present husband, Jerrel E. Sullivan while in high school and they married January 29, 1960. They remained married until she took her last breath. During their marriage they had three wonderful children, Terrie, Steven and Michael and three lovely grandchildren, Alfredo, Avery and Ethan. Everything she did, everyone she touched, everything about her was grand, and her smile and laugh were infectious to everyone that ever met her. Above all, she lived her life for her family and she loved them dearly. Her very presence lit up a room because of her wonderful personality. She will be so dearly missed by so many people, from her husband, children, grandchildren, brother and sister in-laws whom she considered her brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, her bridge club ladies of 49 years and many, many friends. She loved everyone and everything, and was probably one of the most cheerful individuals you would meet in your lifetime. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Houston’s First Baptist Church Chapel, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024, on Monday, August 11th, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family in the adjacent reception room. In lieu of customary flowers and remembrances, a donation can be made to Houston’s First Baptist Church, the wonderful Blue Team of Houston Hospice for whom we are eternally grateful, or to the charity of one’s choice.
