William George Walker, Jr., a resident of Houston, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 in Angleton, Texas at the age of 84 years. William was born November 14, 1921 in Buck (Livingston), Texas to William George and Armita Martin Walker.
William was a lifelong resident of Texas and grew up in east Texas near Livingston. In his early years, William worked with his father in the sawmills. He later worked in the oil field industry and was also a truck driver and professional diesel mechanic. William was a devout member of the Worldwide Church of God.
William is preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Dixon Walker, his second wife, Ella Evans Walker, a sister, Nana Walker Micklewait and two nephews, Billie McCormick and James McCormick. He is survived by a loving family; his wife of 10 years, Lillian Fornes Walker; a sister, Florine Oliver; brother, Father Anselm Walker; two nephews, Harold McCormick and John McCormick; five nieces, Bertha Maxwell, Donna Coffen, Dana Baker, Sarah Ann King and Clara Jones; cousin, Ben Sellers; and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service commemorating William’s life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway in Pearland with Rev. Mark Mounts officiating. For those desiring memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
