Elvis Edward “Jack” King, a resident of Pasadena for 58 years, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Jack was born March 21, 1925 in Elkins, Arkansas to Willie and Mary (Bray) King. He was a professional truck driver by trade from 1948 – 1972, and was proud to have never been involved in an accident. Jack retired in 1984 from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He served as President of the Independent Federation with York Transport and was a member of the Teamsters Union #988 for more than 40 years.
Jack is survived by a loving family; his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary L. King; two sons, Jay King and wife, Theresa, of San Antonio and Dale King, of Pasadena; two daughters, Mary McCloskey and husband, Mike, of Channelview and Carol King, of La Porte; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial celebration remembering Jack’s life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 17, 2006, in the Family Chapel of Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland with Rev. Chuck Lightfoot, pastor of Alta Vista Christian Church, officiating. For those desiring, memorials may be made to Houston S. P. C. A. or to Citizen’s for Animal Protection.
