Please share a memory of Sylvia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sylvia Sue Sanders, 69, of Galveston, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Grant. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Sanders; daughters, LaDonna Ready and husband, John, Sheri Tubbs; sisters, Patty Jones and husband, Clifton, Cheryl Kirk; grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Grace, Noah and Joshua; great grandchild, Dameron; twenty-seven dear nieces and nephews, including three very special ones; Clint, Shelbie and Reilie Addington; her very special friend, her Ladybug, Karen Griffin; and a host of other family and friends. Family was very important to Sue and she grew up visiting her relatives often. Her parents taught her the value of family and some of her most lasting memories were visiting relatives in the country where she would have to go through the chicken pen barefooted to get to the outhouse, taking baths in the washtub in the backyard or being saved by her dad as a cow chased her across the pasture. Sue considered herself a city girl when it came to those things. She always referred to her summers in Dallas visiting her aunt and uncle as some of fondest memories. They always made her feel important, loved and valued and her goal was to always treat people with this same respect. Sue was strong in her faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Pearland. The ladies in her Sunday school class were very dear to her. She loved music and even though she would admit to having a bad voice (and apologizing for it), she loved to sing along. Sue felt that God wouldn’t care as long as she was praising him. She worked for over 50 years, with 25 of those with her last employer before having to retire due to illness. Her favorite employment was a Practice Administrator for DDS Associates where she has a great respect for the doctors, their philosophy and integrity. Sue enjoyed her house in the country with John and would relax by sitting out on the porch in a rocking chair watching the cattle. She loved the mountains of Colorado and marveled at its majesty. Her hobbies included sewing, decorating her house and snuggling with her munchkins, the grandkids. She cherished spending time with her family. Sue often commented that she inherited two things from her father. One being perfection and the other being great attention to detail. Her daughters can testify to this as they were growing up and doing their chores. They had to meet her approval or she would make them do it again and comment, “Do it right the first time and you won’t have to do it again.” Sue never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone around her, even to John’s dismay as he would simply just shake his head. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. The visitation for Sue will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Her funeral service will take place Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Pearland, 3005 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Interment will follow Tuesday afternoon at Ferguson Cemetery in Oletha, Texas.
