Obituary of Ercilia Olivarez Saenz

Ercilia “Chila” Olivarez Saenz, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, June 16, 2017.  Chila was born on Friday, September 1, 1935 in Concepcion, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Apolonio and Maria Olivarez; brothers, Ramiro and Roberto Olivarez; sisters, Armadina Lozano and Minerva Martinez.  Chila is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Frank Saenz; sons, Frank Saenz Jr. and wife, Mary Frances, Joel Saenz and wife, Mindie; daughter, Leila Mercado and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Dustin, Nicholas, Danielle, Christopher and Samantha Saenz; great grandchildren, Kingslei, Vincent, Carter and Hunter; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Chila was a loyal and dedicated employee for Draper and Assoc. for 50 years.  The Draper family looked to her as an extension of their family.  Chila was affectionately known as “MoMo” to her family and “Mama Bear” to her work family and she dedicated her life to both families.  She had much love to give and thought of her nieces and nephews as her own children.  Chila cherished family get-togethers and holidays and felt it was important to pass that tradition on to her family.  She always made sure everyone had plenty to eat and she was able to indulge in her favorite sweets.  Chila will forever be remembered for her kind and caring demeanor and her wonderful sense of humor.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Visitation and Rosary for Chila will he held Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The funeral mass will take place Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Richard Hinkley officiating.  Interment will follow at Alvin Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
