“Cotton” Kenneth Wayne Smith, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2004 in Houston, Texas after a brief illness. Cotton was born in Pittsburg, Texas on November 26, 1927, graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Texas and East Texas Baptist College with a degree in Mathematics. It was there that he met his wife, Bobbie with whom he shared 54 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from Gulf Oil in 1983 with 32 years of service. Cotton enjoyed life and shared his good nature with everyone. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Pearland and an active resident of Country Place. He and Bobbie spent the last 12 years working for the Houston Astros Ball Club. His passion for life was reflected in his love for God, his wife and family, golf and his Astros family. Other survivors include two brothers, James Smith, of Lake Havashu, Arizona and George Smith, of Granbury, Texas; one sister, Marilyn Holloway, of Prineville, Oregon and a host of family and friends. Bobbie and her family received friends at Clayton Funeral & Cemetery Services on Sunday, November 14, 2004 beginning at 5:00 PM. A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, November 15, 2004, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel of Clayton Funeral & Cemetery Services. Interment followed at SouthPark Cemetery.
