Derek was a wonderful person and such an inspirational and kind coworker. We spent many evenings together participating in hospital wide recognition events and he made the time pass quickly with his engaging conversation. He always had stories to share about Carrie and his daughters, and he loved them dearly. He was such a joy to be around, and he spread cheer and kindness to all he encountered. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences go to his family. Prayers for peace and comfort during this time of bereavement. One thing I will most remember is his great big smile and the warmness he brought into the room.
Derek and I were parking lot buddies. We parked and walked into work many days talking about anything and everything under the sun. We also share an April birthday. The beauty of this is that these are ordinary, simple day-to-day encounters that make up our lives and are so special. Sending love and prayers to Carrie and the girls.
