Victoria Scranton
I am so grateful to Annette for her son, Patrick — such an honorable, kind, and wonderful man, whom I love deeply, and who was raised with so much love by Annette and Don. My years in Houston remain a foundational time in my life, filled with gratitude. I couldn’t have wished for a better family, husband, or mother-in-law.
What stays with me most is Annette’s smile — her warmth, her positivity, and her wonderful sense of humor. She had a genuine curiosity about life and a quiet strength that carried her through unimaginable loss in 2005. Her presence in the years that followed, even from afar, meant more to me than I can fully express.
I will always hear her voice answering the phone — “Victoria?!” — and the way she would end every call: “I love you, sugar.” No one else ever called me that, and it captures so perfectly her sweetness and gentle nature.
I will carry her warmth with me always. Rest in peace, dear Annette — reunited now with Patrick and Don. Thank you for all the love and all the “sugar.”
