Obituary of Ricky Joe Richardson
Please share a memory of Ricky to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ricky Joe Richardson, 62, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Marion and Mary Richardson. Ricky was survived by his loving wife, Deborah Richardson; brothers, Glenn Richardson, Greg Richardson and wife, Janice, Jon Richardson and wife, Sharyn; nieces and nephews, Tawnia Richardson-Rafferty and husband, Robert, Tori Gold and husband, William, Crystal, Jessica, Renia and Glenn Marion Richardson, Gregory Joe Richardson and wife, Valley Lee, Stacie Tolley and husband, Teddy, Jon Kelly Richardson and wife, Lisa; and a host of other family and friends.
Ricky was a very private man, so many people were never fully aware of his struggles with his illness. He loved to travel, (better still if that trip included a Casino.) Ricky had a very quick wit. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his brothers, deep sea fishing, Netflix and crossword puzzles. He will be missed by his monthly Wednesday night poker group as well as his Pearland Texas Hold-em poker friends. Ricky loved a party, whether it was just hanging out with his nieces and nephews, or having pool parties with as many people as their house would hold. He loved being an Elk, especially when it came to the Pearland Elks Hoop Shoots. Ricky was a very loyal Astros fan, he loved the Houston Oilers and then cheered for the Texans football team. He was smitten with their little dog Kaiser the first time they met, they were buds. He pretended to dislike Deborah’s cat, Missy Hold-em, but failed at that miserably! He absolutely loved his family, and had a very deeply spiritual faith.
He worked as hard as he played. His greatest achievement was earning his RPLS and becoming a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Surveying was his "other woman", and boy...did he love her! His proudest accomplishment though, would have to be being clean and sober for 24 years and celebrated his 20 year mark with a huge party. This man just loved life....and was very loved in return.
