Obituary of Lowell Kenneth Baumann
Please share a memory of Lowell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lowell Kenneth Baumann, 74, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 in his home following a long battle with leukemia.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Donna (Tonn) Baumann; Mother-in-Law, Roberta Tonn; six children: Derek Baumann and wife, Edna; Candace Cosgrove and husband, Johnny; Donelle Baumann; Courtney Baumann and partner, Tray O’Dell; Tad Baumann, and Isaak Baumann; four grandchildren: Kalysta and Rhys Cosgrove, Diane Mae Baumann, MJ Allison and husband, Kevin; and two great-grandchildren: Lance Baumann and Keegan Allison. He is also survived by his brother Darrell Baumann, and wife Christina; nephews Mike Baumann, and wife Beth, and Eric Baumann.
Born and raised in Minnesota by the late Otto and Stella (Lobitz) Baumann, he also lived in Missouri, Florida, Arkansas, and Louisiana, until finally settling in Pearland, Texas 20 years ago.
He received his associate’s degree from Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1962, and his bachelor's degree from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, in 1964. He met his wife, Donna, in 1970 and they were married six months later at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven, Kansas. He received a Master’s in Education from Central Missouri State in 1972. After teaching for 30 years in the Lutheran School System, Lowell taught in the Houston Independent School District for an additional 18 years. He not only took pride in teaching, he truly enjoyed molding young minds.
Lowell had a passion for gardening, reading, and watching football. A child of God, he always put his family first. He was the type of man who always had a question, joke, or witty comment quickly followed by a laugh. Lowell never met a stranger.
