He is preceded in death by his father, Delmar Jacobs Sr. He is survived by his mother, Linda Jacobs; former wife, Dr. Carol Jacobs; sons, Brian, David, Mark & Eric Jacobs; brother, Delmar Jacobs Jr. & his wife Sue; and a host of many other family & friends. Tom was born on November 10, 1959 in Roswell, New Mexico but lived in Texas his entire life. Tom made a strong family commitment, sacrificed his career, and became a stay-at-home Dad for thirteen years, raising his four boys, so Carol could complete her medical education. He really was a trendsetter at the time and champion for stay-a-home Dads. He developed close relationships with all of his boys and was extremely patient and understanding with them. Tom loved to discuss history or politics and always had a thirst for knowledge. He loved to read in his spare time and collected all sorts of historical memorabilia. In 2004, Tom became the editor of the Friendswood Journal and Pearland Journal. Tom will be fondly remembered for his kindness, consideration and great respect for family values. A Memorial Service for Tom will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 2:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. Father Jim Courville will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Jacobs Memorial College Fund, First National Bank of Livingston, P.O. Box 671, Livingston, Texas 77351-0671, 936-327-1234.
