Dollie Elanore Roderick, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Dollie is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Bernard Roderick. Dollie was born on July 29, 1917 in Rutherford, New Jersey to William Frederick and Nellie Chapman Oliver. Dollie, Joseph and family transferred to Texas in 1965 and made Houston their home. Dollie loved her husband, family, flowers and the sand on her toes. Throughout her life, Dollie brought wisdom, love, inspiration and grace to those around her. She has a special place in the hearts of her family and friends that no one else will ever be able to touch. Dollie has been the nucleus of so many lives and the fondest memories have her directly in the center. Dollie is survived by her three children, daughter Elizabeth Fain and husband Ronald of Irving, Texas; daughter Marcy Jane Weaver and husband David of Pearland, Texas; and son William Oliver Roderick and wife Devora of Lake Jackson, Texas. Grandchildren include Dollie Anne Shoemaker and husband Robert, Raleigh, North Carolina; Meredith Leigh Fain, Coppell, Texas; Erik Justin MacKenna and wife Jennifer, Pearland, Texas; Katherine Allen and husband Dennis, Alexandria, Virginia; Meghan Jones and husband Colin, Lewisville, Texas; Sarah Elizabeth Roderick, Plano, Texas; and Laura Ashley Roderick, Houston, Texas along with six great-grandchildren, Elanore Justine MacKenna, Malia Gail MacKenna, Dylan Gabriel Allen, Donovan Allen, Connor Jones and Miles Dean Fain. Family is a glorious quilt linking generations by the threads of love and devotion. Family celebrates life’s bright moments and shares adversities through the generations. Family provides the encouragement and support to achieve our greatest goals. Love and belonging to each other is the essence of family. Dollie, you will be dearly missed by all who love you.
