Obituary of Lucas Augustine Riley

Funeral Service Monday, Dec 12, 2016 2:00 PM Lucas Augustine Riley September 02, 2016 - December 07, 2016 Lucas Augustine Riley was born September 2, 2016 born 6 pounds and 19 inches long. Despite being born five weeks early Lucas was a fighter. Lucas was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which caused the left side of his heart to be underdeveloped and too small to function. His only chance for survival would be to have a series of three open heart surgeries over three years, and even then he would still have only had half of a heart for his entire life. Lucas had his first open heart surgery called the Norwood procedure at six days old. Lucas spent 37 days in the Cardiac ICU and 20 days on the cardiac step down unit. Lucas was healthy enough to spend 5 and a half incredible weeks at home with his parents while preparing for his next surgery on December 14. Lucas flourished at home, gaining weight and soaking up time with his parents. Lucas passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2016.Parents Noah and Veronica would like to thank everyone at Texas Childrens Hospital who helped take care of Lucas. Lucas was preceded in death by his Grandmother Sherri Cohn and is survived by his Parents Noah and Veronica Riley Grandparents Stephen Veit, Kevin and Martha Riley Aunts and Uncles are Madeline Veit, Stefani Veit, Nicholas Riley and wife Christy, Eric Cohn and Melody Cohn. Visitation will be Sunday at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home Sunday Dec. 11 starting at 5 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM. Services will be 2:00P M Monday Dec 12 at St Hyacinthe Catholic in Deer Park with interment to follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
