Obituary of William Viron Cross

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William Viron Cross, 78, of Manvel, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Viola Elaine Hickman and Joe Cross, brother, Charles Clepper and sisters, Norlaine Long and Nadine Black. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rick Cross and wife, Rebecca, Kelly Cross, Kyle Cross and wife, Melissa; brother, Richard “Ricky” Clepper; grandchildren, Haylee and Jeffry Cross; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Bill didn’t have much of a filter, but he did always have a joke or witty remark, which was often followed by laughter from everyone within earshot. He had a special knack for finding a way to lighten the mood and put a smile on people’s faces. Bill was extremely intelligent and enjoyed debating about politics, sports, and religion. As soon as he figured out your side of an issue, he was quick to argue the other, just because he could. More than anything, Bill loved his boys, and rarely, if ever, missed an event of theirs. Every conversation that was had between him and his sons ended with, “I love you most”; words that weren’t just spoken but that were truly and whole heartedly meant. His boys and his family were his entire world and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the Cross family asks that donations be made in Bill’s name to The Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org
