Maria Lydia Garza, 97, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roman Garza Cuellar and Estefana Olivares, husband, Arnulfo Garza; Four brothers and two sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Maria Luisa Garza; sons, Arnulfo Garza Jr. and wife, Elidia, Hector Javier Garza and wife, America, Juan Enrique Garza and wife, Liliana, Mario Alfonso Garza and sister Lupita Garcia; grandchildren, Jael, Natanael, Elizabeth, Karla, Karina Garza and Jose Padilla; three great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Maria was a loving and devoted mother who raised five children by herself. She was a woman of great character who smiled through every adversity, always showed a calm spirit and never complained. Lydia enjoyed singing and listening to piano. She loved animals, especially her cats. Lydia was strong in her faith and loved reading her Bible, and even at a later age she was still witnessing for Christ. She enjoyed drawing, painting and watching movies or her favorite television shows. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always remain the hero for her children. Services for Lydia will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
