Affectionately known as “Grandma Shannon” to her family, Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and educator. She was always fair and loving, and willing to help and mentor others anytime she had the opportunity. Judy loved being a mother and relished every moment of raising her children and grandchildren. Her family was truly her pride and joy. Judy also devoted her life to education. She worked for 22 years with the Pasadena Independent School District as a Teacher and Assistant Principal. Judy frequently mentored young teachers to ensure they would have a successful start to their careers. She was compassionate and understanding as she encouraged many with challenges to find the right path in their career and life. She left behind a legacy of educators, including three in the family and two who still work in PISD. Judy was an active supporter of John as an athlete in the Special Olympics as well as many of his friends, providing transportation and encouragement to those in need.
Judy was also a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord and enjoyed staying active in her Church. Judy enjoyed putting her strong organizational skills to use for Church functions. Her children remember fondly that Ephesians 4:29, “Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths” was her favorite passage of scripture to quote to them when they needed it.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of Faith and Service which will live on in her family and the many teachers and students she mentored over the years. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In Lieu of flowers, Judy’s family asks that you consider donating to Hope Village in her honor.
