Obituary of Maxine Coleman Walls
Maxine Coleman Walls, age 91, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday night October 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Dewey Walls Sr.; parents Lawrence Coleman and Etta Coleman; brother Jack Coleman, sisters Marie Johnson and Ruffie Pickle. Left to cherish her memory are daughters; Becky Walls Kittleman, Sherry Rightmer and husband David; son Dewey Walls Jr. and wife JoAnn. Grandchildren, Kristin Girod and husband Dale, Dewey Walls III and wife Leandra, Kari Leighton and husband Erik, Alan Walls and wife Shanna, Dylan Kittleman, also 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and a host of other family and friends.
Maxine was born on her family farm in Bois D’ Arc, Tx. She lived there until she and Dewey married in 1948. They left the farm and started moving while he worked construction for Brown & Root. Their moving kept them in Texas all but two times, once in Alabama and a year in the jungle of Colombia, South America. When returning Dewey quit construction and moved to LaPorte in 1963. She finally found her forever home. She loved life in LaPorte. Maxine moved a little over a year ago to a memory home in Austin but always wanted to go back to La Porte. We are honoring her wish by bringing her back to LaPorte to be next to Dewey.
The most important things in her life were serving her Lord Jesus Christ, her beloved husband Dewey and her family. She and Dewey loved their church, Bayshore Baptist and showed it by teaching the word of God for 40 years to youth, young married couples and married couples. She spent a lot of her time reading and studying her Bible. Maxine was known as a kind and giving person that always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She loved cooking for her family. Maxine loved to share her awesome food with her family every Sunday for lunch after church, cookies for her Sunday School class every Sunday morning, large Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner’s for all the family and adopted family. Sewing was another passion of hers. She spent hours in front of her sewing machine making beautiful clothes for her family and her baby blankets for lots of new babies. Maxine will always be remembered for her many acts of kindness and talents.
