Obituary of Brandon Shane Abshire
Brandon Shane Abshire, 51, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brandon was a graduate of Kingwood High School and received two Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Political Science from University of Houston. He was married to the love of his life, Patti Abshire, for 23 years. He adored his daughter, Mia, and for many years was an awesome stay at home Dad.
Brandon had a huge heart and cared deeply for others. He was easy to get along with and very loyal. He was a great listener and a big dreamer. He loved helping people solve problems. He had a way with people that made them feel welcomed and loved. He lived life large and made a positive impact on many. He also had strong opinions, and a large working knowledge of a lot of topics.
Brandon was an ardent Houston Cougars fan for everything from Football to Baseball to Basketball. Brandon loved sports especially the Houston Astros and Manchester United Football Club. He played soccer his whole life and managed his own club teams as an adult. He could frequently be found on the disc golf course as well with his brother Jason and many of his friends. Brandon was also a great outdoorsman, he loved guns, hunting, fishing, kayaking and in the last couple of years bird-watching; specifically, birds of prey. It wasn’t uncommon for Brandon to send out a text with a picture of a Hawk or another raptor that he had spied on his daily walks with his dogs.
Brandon also held a special place in his heart for dogs. Among those who will miss him are his dogs Denali and Shasta. We know that he has been reunited in Heaven with his faithful dogs Bo and Max. Among other dogs that will miss him are his dog clients. Brandon was known for posting pictures of his four-legged friends. He advocated for pet fostering and adoption.
Brandon’s memory is cherished by his loving wife Patti and their daughter Mia, his father Ron Abshire, his mother Patty Abshire, his sister Kim Ackerman (Chris Ackerman), and his brother Jason Abshire (Maritza Salazar-Abshire) and countless extended family members and friends.
