Obituary of David Glen Buckmiller
David Glen Buckmiller loved to be called Husband, Father, Pepaw, Brother, and Uncle. David, dedicated husband, father of five, grandfather of twelve, great-grandfather to four, and friend to many people – was unexpectedly called home by the Lord on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, in Cleveland, Texas, he was only 71 years old.
David was the youngest child born to the late Bernard August Buckmiller (Buchmiller) and the late Evelyn Rita Buckmiller (nee Cole), on September 26, 1953, in Brownsville, Texas.
David will always be loved and cherished by his family, children Donnie (Lisa), Krystal (Jeff), Clay (Pam), Conner (Danielle), and Kurtis (Christi), all residing in Texas; grandchildren Haley (Matt), Emily, Abbey, Lance, Nathan, Conner, Jr., Katelynn, Corbin, Randy, Colton, Khloe, Caleb; great-grandchildren Lincoln, Miya, Aurora, and Noellie; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. There are many extended family members that will miss him dearly. David was preceded in death by his wife, Kim, who he loved wholeheartedly and unabashedly, only two short years ago; by his parents and by his brother and sister, Hershel Bernerd Buckmiller and Katherine “Kathy” Ann Fancello.
David was a devoted husband and father, always keeping close with those he loved. He also loved his grandkids and great grandkids more than anything, he loved being their Pepaw. He loved attending all the birthdays and family events, his family being everything in the world to him. He loved nothing more than sitting around the table, visiting and sharing a meal with those he loved.
David had an adventurous life from early on. His father was in the service, so they spent their fair share of time abroad. There were so many great tales of living in the American Virgin Islands and his beloved Marseille, France. It was in this port city of Southern France that really cultivated David’s love of fishing and being on or near the water, and also where his love of the French language was discovered. David was fluent at reading, writing, and speaking French…and many may not know this, but he kept his internet browser in French so he would never forget it!
Even though David was an extremely hard worker, he always made time to enjoy some of his favorite activities. David loved his guns, hunting (mostly for deer), motorcycles (sometimes his primary mode of transportation), sports cars (who remembers that red Nova he used to have?), and barbequing and smoking meats…he was known for those briskets! David would barbeque some lamb while his sister Kathy made up her family-famous couscous and Uncle Dede played his records from France, these family gatherings are some of the best family memories from the time his children were young.
Later in life David still very much enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also loved discussing guns with all of us that would listen, and with such a large family that shared this passion, this happened often. Having lived in various parts of the world, David appreciated living in the United States and revered all of the freedoms afforded to its citizens. David valued our freedoms absolutely and was proud to be called an American Patriot. His support of Trump was well-known wherever he went, because he deeply wanted him to Make America Great Again!
This family will always love David – Dad, Pepaw, Uncle David, and hold him close to our hearts eternally, and pass his memory down to future generations so that they can love him as we do.
